For the love of cycling…

Well, not really. Perhaps a few stale endorphins make you think the ride was great. A real bro kicker. But lets face it, cycling sucks.

The real reasons to ride? Cafes, banter and a few social beers.

Hence wheelsucking. One of the techniques recruited in getting to the cafe with as little effort as possible. (see also amtrak, bosch etc)

As Scotty says, “use your arm hair to sense the least wind resistance”…among other things.

Coffee and sausage biscuits coming right up!

Studies suggest that the thrill of the perfect cafe stop can mask the pain of the last 90 minutes ..

Meanwhile…a random casual cyclist pretends to actual enjoy cycling. I think we know what’s really goin on here…

Tour de Femme and some thoughts.

Sadly, this weekends Tour de Femme charity ride was cancelled due to 7 inches of rain in short order.

On the plus side, there were chances to reflect on the role of the charity ride sweeper. Could this be enforced wheelsucking with free food at the end? Perhaps volunteer next year….

Anyway, at least I had chance to draft my fine family femmes and watch the water drip from my bottom bracket. Life is good.

Cycling with your partner – a new level of cunning.

Cycling with your partner is a dangerous situation that can have huge ramifications. In short, you must protect the illusion of your cycling mastery or you may end up doing dishes or dropping the kids at the pool instead of your Saturday warrior ride with the musketeers.

Here I am drafting mine, saying things like – I think I’ll retire or – we’re out of eggs. Distracting techniques that allow me to wheel suck 80% of the time and even choose the coffee stop location.

When drafting is harder than pulling

Here I am drafting that musketeer wheel sucker. Since he pulls 50% harder than me it’s actually easier to be on the front. A bad situation that forces a late coffee stop.
